Author of "Screw Everyone: Sleeping My Way to Monogamy" Has THIS to Say About Parenting

Ophira Eisenberg is funny. If you've seen the Canadian comic and author's stand-up performances, caught her hosting The Moth's StorySlams, or tuned into her on NPR's nerd-fest "Ask Me Another," you know this about her. Eisenberg—who had her son when she was 43—tells the Orlando Sentinel in advance of this week's Florida taping of "Ask Me Another": “Two years ago, I had a child, which was slightly unexpected. So I’ve made great fun of my advanced maternal age and what that is all about.”

We hope Eisenberg says more on that on one of her upcoming shows. But for now, we've got this soundbite to tide us over: “My mother would say to me growing up, ’cause I’m the youngest of six, ‘Never get married, never have kids, you will ruin your life,’ which is a pretty funny thing to hear from your own mother. Here I am married and I just had a kid. So I see it as like here we are now, the whole goal is that we’re going to ruin our lives together.”

Ok, so we don't actually think that anymore (the "ruin your life" part), although we sure used to be ambivalent about having kids before we ever did it. But we definitely want to hear more from her on the whole parenting thing. Ophira: We're all ears. And now that her memoir "Screw Everyone: Sleeping My Way to Monogamy" has been optioned for a film by Zucker Productions, we'll be all eyes too.
